I decided I wanted to share a little bit about my other half, and how we came to be together. 🙂
Joseph and I have known each other for a long time now…his family moved near mine way back when I was 11 and he was 12. Ever since then, I have been fast friends with his awesome, crazy, crowded, and creative family 😀
He is from a family of five boys and 1 girl. They were always ready for an adventure, and Rachel and I became fast friends.
I am from a large family as well. There are six kids in my family too, so I love big families 😀
Over the years we all played together and before we knew it, childhood friends had grown up. Joseph joined the Air Force, and I poured my soul into studying art. I enjoyed spending time with his family when I had the time, but my school was 10 hours away from where he lived.
Although his family didn’t live near mine anymore, Joseph still did, since that’s where he was stationed. We enjoyed spending time together over my college breaks, and somewhere in the middle of that, we fell in love without realizing it. There is something magical and perfect about best friends falling in love. However, it can be really scary to take the plunge, knowing that if it doesn’t work out, you could lose the friendship you had. Joseph struggled for a while wondering if he should confess his feelings to me, although I was oblivious of this. (I’m really thankful that he did! 🙂
Marriage is a beautiful thing. But it isn’t always easy, nor should it be. I am so thankful that I married my friend, someone that I can count on, and someone that I have already created a story with. We have explored together, laughed together, and played together, all before we had even thought about marriage or love. (Well ok, I think I’ve always thought about it! After all, in my 12 year old diary I confessed that I was in love with Joseph and that I was going to marry him one day! Not kidding!)
He is my person. The guy I can act totally stupid in front of. The one that knows me way better than any other human on the planet. He gets me, and I get him. I am so blessed to have him in my life, always ready to catch me when I fall, always ready to encourage me and lift me up. I love how the hard things we go through pull us so much closer together.
Life is just sweeter with this guy.
