Pantone’s Color of the Year 2014

I’m just in love with Pantone’s color of the year for 2014. It’s rich, royal and lustrous, and makes an excellent accent color. I know 2014 is like halfway over, but who cares. This is an awesome color! If you find yourself being a bit afraid of bright colors, try adding just a few touches of this color to a room in your house. If you had no idea that Pantone even had a color of year, here are the past yearly colors since 2000.

And this is Orchid, the color of 2014!

Here are a few of my favorite finds in orchid.

The great thing about this color is that almost everyone looks good in it, and the muted shades are very calming in home decor, even on the walls. I love these orchid colored roses. Wouldn’t they be beautiful for a wedding?

Now a little inspiration for adding this color into your decor. These images really make me want to paint a wall with this color!

If this color still scares you a bit, try combining with some other accent colors, like the picture below.

I hope this post inspired you to find a way to incorporate some new color into your life!
